Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the questions we are asked most often. If your question is not here, please get in touch, and we are happy to help.

No. You are welcome to book directly with us, and you do not need a referral to get started. A referral from your GP is only needed if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate through a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

You can book online or send us a message through our Contact and Referrals page. Once you book, we will send you everything you need, including intake and consent forms, before your first session.

We work with adolescents and adults across a broad range of concerns. Children are seen on a case-by-case basis, so please get in touch to discuss what your child needs.

The first session is mostly about getting to know you and understanding what brings you in. Your psychologist will ask some questions about what is going on for you and what you would like to work towards, and together you will start to shape a plan. There is no pressure to have it all worked out beforehand.

Fees and funding

Our standard session fee is $230. Full details, including Medicare, NDIS, workers' compensation and private health options, are on our Fees and Funding page.

If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year. Rebate amounts are set by Medicare and updated each July, so we will confirm the current rebate and your out-of-pocket cost before your first appointment.

When you book your first appointment, we will ask you to store a card securely on file through our practice software. Your card is charged 48 hours before each appointment, so there is nothing to organise on the day.

We ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to change an appointment. Cancellations with less notice incur a fee of 50% of the session fee, and appointments funded by a third party are charged at the full rate. If something out of your control comes up, talk to us.

Telehealth

Telehealth lets you attend your appointment by secure video call or phone, from home or another private space. Once you book, we will send you a simple link and everything you need beforehand. All you need is a quiet spot and a stable internet or phone connection.

Many people find telehealth flexible and easy to fit into their lives, and research shows it works well for a wide range of concerns. If you are not sure whether it suits you, or your situation, we are happy to talk it through and help you work out the best way forward.

Assessments and referrers

'Yes. We provide psychometric assessment and report writing, including diagnostic, cognitive functioning and functional capacity assessments, for purposes such as NDIS, workers' compensation, GP and legal referrals. Please see our Services page or contact us to discuss what you need.

We welcome referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, support coordinators, insurers, employee assistance programs and legal representatives. Our Contact and Referrals page sets out what to include, and provider details for Mental Health Treatment Plans are available on request.
