Workers' Compensation

If you have been injured at work, psychology support can be part of your recovery. ABC Psychology works with people on workers' compensation and WorkCover claims, providing therapy and assessment to support recovery and a safe return to work. Appointments are available on the Sunshine Coast and Australia-wide by telehealth, so you can access support from wherever you are.

What we work with

Workplace injury is not only physical. A psychological injury can happen on its own, for example, after a distressing or traumatic event at work, or it can develop alongside a physical injury during a long or difficult recovery. We work with:

  • Psychological injury arising from work, including stress, anxiety, depression and trauma
  • The emotional impact of a physical workplace injury, including pain, frustration and loss of confidence
  • Adjustment to changes in work, role or capacity after an injury
  • Preparing for and managing a return to work at a sustainable pace

How workers' compensation psychology works

Workers' compensation appointments are arranged differently from a private booking. In most cases, your treatment is approved through your claim, and your nominated treating doctor refers you for psychological treatment. Once your claim and referral are in place, we liaise with your case manager and treating team as needed, and provide the reports the scheme requires.

Alongside therapy, we provide psychological assessment and report writing to support workers' compensation matters, including reports for treating doctors, insurers and legal representatives.
